ROV Controlled Subsea Chain Block Information
Based on the SSC4 subsea chain block by W. Hackett this set up incorporates special frameworks in order to be operated by an ROV (remotely operated vehicle).
Featuring quad pawl technology for optimum safety and finer adjustments. Hyperbaric tested to 3000 metre depths.
For more specifications and information about the stand alone hoist please refer to the SSC4 chain block product page here.
To further enhance the usability of this manual hoist a hand wheel can be fitted (optional extra) so that when topside you can fit hand chain to the wheel so you can manually adjust the load chain.
Manual ROV Controlled Chain Block
The manual version of the SSC4 ROV controlled chain block incorporates a slim frame which provides a grab point for ROV’s fitted with manipulator tools. The hoist can be driven using a fishtail attachment, T handle or D handle interface, (available on request) making it easier for the ROV pilot to engage with the hoist. The user guide is available in the tab above.
Hydraulic ROV Controlled Chain Block
The hydraulic version of this hoist has a larger / boxier framework which sits around the hydraulic system. The larger frame enables the ROV pilot to grasp the hoist from multiple positions. The steel fascia has laser cut labelling so identification of the parts and valves are always clear. There are dual bypass valves and flow control valves for fully controllable hydraulic fluid flow. Dual flow check valves ensure water ingress in prevented when tools are removed.

ROV Controlled Manual Hoist Uses
These particular manual hoists which can be controlled by a remotely operated vehicle are used in a range of subsea operations including salvage, maintenance and repairs, research and exploration, oil and gas, civil engineering such as bridge and dock construction and more.
There are a number of other hoists that can be used for subsea lifting tasks which you can find on the subsea hoisting equipment page. Notice that there are some lever hoist options as well as chain blocks and ROV controlled hoists.
