Subsea hoisting equipment is a specialist category where you will find a range of lifting hoists that can be used in and around marine environments including for submerged lifting applications. We have a collection of manual chain blocks and ratchet lever hoists to suit such operations including ROV controllable hoists. We can also supply the latest subsea load cell shackle for easy load measuring.
Why use Specialist Subsea Hoisting Equipment
The marine industry including off shore and subsea operations often have the need to lift loads, however standard hoisting equipment is not usually suitable in these areas due to harsh environmental factors. Standard hoists would quickly rust and seize up leading to load failure, thus standard hoists should never be used in these areas.
Instead you should opt for specialist subsea hoisting equipment which is geared up for the harsh conditions. Using different components and lubricants our range of hoists can handle briny conditions or anywhere that has excess moisture. Our subsea hoists are typically used for a wide range of tasks in high moisture and wet areas areas including subsea operations, marine science, surveying sea beds, recovery of shipwrecks, oil, gas and mining as well as off shore and dockside lifting tasks..
Subsea Manual Chain Blocks
The chain blocks in this category come from leaders in this genre – Hacketts and Tiger, they are suitable for single and/or multiple immersions over a certain period. For example the SSC4 subsea chain block has a 21 day single immersion limit or 31 day multi immersion limit and can handle up to 50 ton loads (model depending). The SS20 can handle up to a 54 day multi immersion process and loads up to 30 tons.
Specific conditions must be met in these conditions and the number of immersions and total duration must be carefully logged. At the end of each period of use the hoist should flushed with fresh water only, inspected for defects and functionality and let dry in a dry storage area. When the total immersion period is reached the hoist must be fully stripped down for comprehensive inspection, re-assembled and load tested; typically done by the manufacturer.
Subsea Ratchet Lever Hoists
Once again Hacketts and Tiger are the go to brands for subsea hoisting and Lifting Gear Store can supply one lever hoist from each brand. The Tiger SS19 has a range of models with capacities from 0.8 to 20 ton. The Hacketts SSL5 goes up to 10 tonne capacities. The SS19 boasts over 1300 hours of continued exposure whilst the SSL5 has a 21 day one off immersion period or 31 day multi immersion limit. The models from each brand have their own key features so go to their respective product pages to find out all the details and user information.
ROV Operated Subsea Hoists
The above subsea hoists are manually operated, usually by a diver whereas these ROV controlled subsea hoists are operated remotely topside with the aid of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). We can supply the Tiger RCB ROV chain block and the Hacketts ROV chain block with two model options. Both hoists can handle loads up to 20 tonne with a 1000 hour use with the Tiger model and a 31 day multi-immersion for the Hacketts model. For more details see the product pages above.
Subsea Load Cell Shackles
A relatively new product these load cell shackles enable you to get measurements of the weight and load forces subsea. They are commonly used for monitoring the tension of an anchor but also for subsea towing, cable recovery and subsea moorings. The wired design included 20 metres of appropriate cabling as standard with data sent to a hand held display device.
Safety
All our subsea hoisting equipment fully complies to all the necessary standards and thoroughly tested, however you must carefully read through the manufacturers manual and ensure conditions are met. Inspection before each use, wash down after each use and complete inspection after each immersion cycle must be undertaken without question.
