About the Steerman SCS Caterpillar Machine Skates

With 20, 30 and 60 tonne kits available at Lifting Gear Store the Steerman SCS caterpillar load moving skates are supplied in their own steel case. The case is not only lockable for security it also incorporates wheels so that moving it around isn’t an issue.

Within this heavy duty load moving kit you will find a number of steering handles and skate connecting rods. When it comes to the skates there are 6 in total, two standard skates, two turntable skates and two caterpillar type skates. The caterpillar skates help to distribute the weight more evenly, thanks to the continuous ground contact, thus increasing stability.

Along with a high spec build quality there are anti-slip pads on each skate for optimum grip and load safety.

The modular design enables multiple configurations, however the load must sit evenly on three or four skate pads. Four is always the best option for stability, and should be placed evenly near each corner.

To get the load up onto the skates can be tricky, sometimes a roller pry bar is all you need, however it is often the case that hydraulic jacks will be required, depending on the load. It is advisable to lift the rear section first and position the skates (then remove the jacks) then move onto the front steerable section.
