Options for Modular Spreader Beams
The range of length options for these spreader beams is quite vast thanks to its modular design. Any number of steel struts can be bolted together. What’s more the struts come in different lengths from 0.1 metres up to 4 metres which can be interchanged to suit. Your choice of capacity will determine the maximum strut length you can have.
For example the smallest MOD 6 version has a 6 ton capacity and your strut length options are 0.1, 0,2, 0.3, 0.6 and 1 metre. The maximum length allowed for this size is 4.5 metres, this must include the two end sections which incorporate top and bottom shackles for your suspension and load anchor points. You can find out the different, allowed combinations in the download above.
Depending on the capacity the physical size of the steel struts also changes in diameter.
When it comes to the end units there are some optional extras to choose from which can be used in place of the standard shackle ends. Stepdown units, hybrid cone adaptors, clevis drop link and delta plate and trunnion drop links are all available options and can be changed at any time to suit the individual requirements of your lifting operation.
Modular Spreader Beam Benefits
When compared to standard spreader beams our modular version has many benefits.
1, easier to store and transport
2, fully adaptable with interchangeable parts
3, different suspension and loading fitting options
4, Easier handling
5, lengths can be easily changed to suit your load.
6, can be used in tandem with other spreader beams.
The fact that the length can be adapted to suit your load means that load slings can be kept at the optimum 90 degrees, thus together with the top suspension configuration the stress forces applied across the beam are compression stress rather than the bending stress you get on a standard lifting beam.
A further benefit to these modular spreader beams is that they can be converted into a lifting frame with the addition of corner fittings. Contact us for more details if you would like to know more about this option.
Additional Lifting Equipment
When using spreader beams, other lifting equipment such as lifting slings and shackles are nearly always used. Lifting Gear Store can supply slings of different varieties such as chain slings, webbing slings or round slings. Lifting shackles can also be supplied in pretty much any type, size and capacity, get in touch with your specific requirements. If you need a powerful lifting hoist then we can help there too. Manual, electric or air hoists can be supplied at great prices.
