Types of Scaffold Harness and Lanyard Kit
Lifting Gear Store can supply three different scaffold harness and lanyard kits by the highly regarded brand Kratos.
Each kit consists of a different full body harness but the same safety lanyard and a bag to keep it all in.
- Kit 1 – Single Point Scaffold Harness Kit – This has 1 Rear (Dorsal) attachment point
- Kit 2 – Two Point Scaffold Harness Kit – This has 2 attachment points, 1 frontal (sternal) 1 rear (Dorsal)
- Kit 3 – Three Point Scaffold Harness Kit – This has 3 attachment points, 1 Rear (Dorsal) 2 front (Sternal)
The number of attachment points is extremely important and should be carefully considered when choosing your kit along with the tasks in which they will generally be used for.
It goes without saying that the more attachment points that are used the safer the wearer will be, if used in the correct manner.
All attachment points are in the form of a ‘D’ style ring so that lanyards etc. can be quickly and securely anchored.
These Kratos harnesses have adjustable shoulder, leg and chest straps for easy and optimum fitting. There is also an additional sit strap to provide more comfort for the wearer.
Harness Attachment Point Locations
The single, rear/dorsal attachment point is located at the upper centre of the back. From this point, should you extend past the length of the lanyard it will hold the body back.
Frontal or sternal attachment points can be in different positions. If there is just one sternal point on the harness then it will be in a central position on the chest strap.
If there are two sternal anchor points they will usually be positioned on both shoulder straps, slightly above the chest strap.
Technical Details
There are many technical details in our scaffold harness and lanyard kits so if you want to know what type of components are used and what they made from as well as sizes, usage and capacities then take a look at the specifications above, you should find everything you need to know.
The Harness Lanyard
The safety lanyard included in these scaffolders height safety kits incorporate a shock absorber. This 35mm absorber extends the lanyard length in a controlled way. The shock absorbing pack opens with a controlled tear when excess force is applied to the lanyard, such as in the event of a fall. The additional webbing helps to dissipate the additional forces, thus minimising the risk of physical or shock injuries. If the absorber has been used you will see a NOT OK sign. This means do not use it, replace with a new one.
Made from high quality polyester the lanyard incorporates a karabiner at on end with a screw lock for optimum security. This end attaches to your body harness.
At the opposite end you will find a special scaffold hook complete with a safety latch. The size of the hook opening and bowl ensures they can easily be attached to scaffolding poles. The safety latch ensures they stay in place until manually removed.
Safety Kit Storage
Your height safety kit has an important job to do; Keep you safe! Therefore you should look after it. A kit bag, in the form of a carry all or a back pack design is included in our kits and has multiple benefits.
Strong an easy to clean these bags will keep all your safety equipment together, no more searching for missing components. What’s more your kit will be kept cleaner and protected from accidental damage from other sources.
Keeping your height safety kit in its storage bag will enable you to pick up and go at any time. Always be ready to work at height safely.
