About Long Shank Collared Eye Bolts

The extended shank length on these collared eye bolts enables secure mounting through deeper fixtures whilst enabling optimum thread engagement for maximum holding strength. The length of the shank is 178mm (metric) or 7 inches (BSW), thus much longer than standard eye bolts.

This longer length is particularly valuable when fastening through thicker materials, and when ultimate strength and hold is required.

The integral collar beneath the eye provides a bearing surface that distributes loads effectively, preventing damage to the mounting surface and the shank from bending whilst ensuring stable load transfer.

Long Shank Eye Bolt Sizes and Capacities

The metric range is available to buy directly online and offers comprehensive size coverage with thread diameters spanning 10mm to 30mm and working load limits from 0.24 tonnes to 4 tonnes are available. This variety ensures suitable options for light to heavy duty applications in industrial settings.

For applications requiring the older style imperial threads, BSW Whitworth sizes are available from 3/8 inch through to 1 1/2 inch thread diameters, with corresponding WLL ratings from 0.25 tonnes to 4.5 tonnes.

This dual sizing ensures compatibility with both modern metric equipment and the older imperial threading. PLEASE NOTE: you should never combine thread types, they will not hold securely. This is because metric shanks are threaded at 60 degree angles whilst BSW shanks are threaded at 55 degrees.

Materials, Safety & Standards

Manufactured from high tensile steel (drop-forged & heat-treated) for optimum fatigue resistance and strength. They are supplied in their own self-colour as standard, but if you would like more corrosion protection then get in touch because we can supply electro-galvanized versions too which have an additional zinc protective layer.

When it comes to safety these long shank collared eye bolts have a 5:1 safety factor, which means the tested, minimum breaking load is 5 times the stated working load limit; this is to ensure high safety margins in case of error, however you MUST NEVER exceed the stated WLL knowingly.

Each eye bolt displays clear markings including the CE mark, Working Load Limit (WLL), thread size, and unique product identification mark. This labelling ensures correct selection and traceability.
