Our swivel eye bolts or swivel lifting points have full rotation abilities and a loading ring that can pivot. Angled loading is made easy with a swivel eye bolt.

We have two grade 80 options. The swivel hoist ring has working load limits up to 20 tonnes and the swivel eye bolt with load ring goes up to 64 tonnes.

Swivel Eye Bolt Benefits

Swivel eye bolts can be used individually, although more often than not they are used in two's and four's. This depends on the load they are to be fitted to. Always ensure the bolts are positioned equally around the centre of gravity to ensure optimum stability.

Once the swivel lifting point is screwed tightly into position the whole unit can fully rotate through 360 degrees. It rotates on bearings so it turns smoothly, most importantly the bolt will not loosen and potentially unscrew.

The load ring offers even more versatility, due to its pivoting action. The rotation and pivoting actions mean that the bolt will automatically position itself correctly according to the pulling direction as the load is lifted.

The Metric shank of these swivel eye bolts varies in diameter and length across the different sizes. Most will have a choice of shank lengths too. For example an M12 is 12mm in diameter and either 18mm or 110mm long. So finding a bolt to suit your hole diameter and depth shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Using Swivel Eye Bolts

When multiple bolts are used together, typically lifting slings will be used. A sling will be fitted to each loading eye and then join together onto the load hook of a lifting hoist. Multi-leg chain slings are commonly used as each leg is fitted to a master link, thus only one ring needs to be attached to the hoists load hook. Simpler, smarter and safer.

It should be noted that the maximum working load limit stated is for a straight lift. When the loading set up forms an angle then a reduced capacity must be applied. As an example the M16 swivel eye bolt can handle up to 2.24 tonnes straight or 1.12 tonnes when the angle is 90 degrees, thus a 45 degree angle will be about half way between the two. However pay attention to the differences between the loading set up, two and four leg slinging set ups produce different results. See specifications for more details.

Always read and follow the manufacturers instructions, adhere to the working load limits according to your load/slinging set up, and carry out all slinging procedures safely.
