Inside the casing there are two powerful jaws which clamp onto the wire rope. When a lever is cranked, the jaws move in a hand over hand motion, gradually pulling the wire rope through. The jaws will continuously hold the rope, providing the correct wire rope of the right diameter is used.
There are typically two operating levers. One is to advance the wire rope forwards and the other to move the rope backwards. You can also release the jaws completely in order to insert the rope initially. Also to advance the rope through quickly during the set up of your operation.
